The Moors established centers of learning in al-Andalus where scholars studied and translated classical Greek and Roman texts, as well as new Islamic scientific works, into Latin. Through these centers, they introduced entirely new fields of knowledge, including alchemy, to Western Europe.
Christian Rosenkreuz, the founder of Rosicrucianism, traveled through Al-Andalus (Spain) in his quest for knowledge where he learned from Sufi mystics.
