finish carpenter here, if you are good at what you do and don't have endless streams of cheap foreign labor competing with the trades, you can make enough money to live a middle class lifestyle. alternatively, if you do have hordes of cheap immigrant labor, find a trade with complexities like geometry and trigonometry and algebra and you will be able to live an upper middle class lifestyle because nobody else in the labor pool can do what you do.
