Unworthy by J.A. Vodvarka is about a flaming bisexual warrior woman with a chip on her shoulder who fucks. Like, the book really needs you to know she is DTF every man and woman who comes within five feet of her. Despite this, she only has a relationship with a woman in the book. But unfortunately there is a het side pairing that gets more hot and heavy screen time than the fucking protagonist for some reason. It's nothing super explicit but like why cut to black with the lesbians and force me to read about firm members with the heterosexuals. There are some other things I didn't particularly like in this book, mostly that the author feels the need to hammer how a character is feeling into your brain at all times. You can't just imply that one character thinks another character is witty, there has to be a line confirming this fact. The world building in this book is weird, where they have air ships and cars and trams powered by magic yet ride around on horses and guns don't exist. This all sounds like I hated the book but I really didn't, the characters are quirky and fun and the interpersonal dialogue is solid. The plot carries in a fairly predictable fashion but the action is solid and it goes at a brisk pace. There are two other books out in this series and I will prolly read them. 6:10 decent fantasy fair.
