It's a standard millennial writing trope. I believe that the Drifter is just latching onto whatever group will accept him and is assimilating quickly, by adapting their slang to fit in. Centuries trapped in Duviri made him desperate for attention. Operator on the other hand was serving the Orokin meanwhile, forgot that they ever were a child and did all the cool black ops shit.

I'm using my Drifter as slightly emotionally/socially stunted , but normal young adult man, whereas my Operator is a borderline Sith Lord in personality.

That being said, you can make Drifter a real piece of shit in KIM, by telling Quincy how he murdered his parents and being a real piece of shit, but like you said it's really juvenile.
