While I agree with what you pointed out, it is an issue, you are ignoring the effect this event has on the common consciousness. This was a living breathing man killed in front of the world, who killed him I'm not here to argue. The point is he died arguing for an objective truth. And so your support either for or against him really draws the line. This is the most, line in the sand moment we've had, globally, and that is not being dramatic. Personally I never watched Charlie, but the fact that he was killed, in such a public way, it really stands as a symbol of what the future could become. There's no neutral anymore, because there is no neutral ground. The neutral ground was murdered along with him.
