Hypercoven only failed because it has a negative art style. It has such a poor art style that by looking at the game, it subtracts from your ability to have fun.
When he was told it would cost "a million dollars" to create art for all of the assets in his game, the smart thing to do would have been to start cutting. Do you really *NEED* that many units? Tiles? Environmental objects? Of course not.

He was unwilling to cut any content and it caused all of his content to look like a dog's breakfast. Many characters are not even presented in the same perspective as others or the environment they are in.
Simple shapes would have been better than releasing the game with The Asset Pack Special. It transcends any mixel or Synty complaints we have here, the absolute hodge-podgery of it is so undeniable that even a normie can look and see theres a negative (worse than nothing) art style.
But Aggy devs never heed the warnings they get here. It's a damn shame too because the guy made a soul RTS.
