I would be interested to know how he feels about it and whether he still has legal control over decision making. Its hard to pass judgement without knowing more about him. Maybe he told her to fuck off, maybe she selfishly bailed on him, maybe he no longer has control over decision making and she's decided her new life has started already.
Any terminal illness is hard to deal with, both sides go through phases with it. Towards the end you're both ready for it, I think. I will never die from a terminal illness, I'll anhero before being bed ridden
