Don't blame Firefox. Microsoft and Apple bundling their browser with their OS didn't do a damn thing. Safari has double digit usage share but even that's only because you could not actually change it on iOS until this year (every alternate browser still had to use the safari engine).

Nobody can do a fucking thing when the most popular websites on the planet all tell you to install Chrome. You'd need to get, I dunno, Facebook and Amazon and Twitter all simultaneously telling you that the site runs better with Firefox, and then Mozilla would be able to get more usage share. But the second they'd pull that magic trick out of their rabbit hat, Google would stop funding the Mozilla CEOs hundred million dollar bonuses and they'd be forced to close shop.
