The worst of the smell vanishes from bodies after a specific amount of time. Due to the fleshy bits drying up and all the gases and liquids no longer being in the body. There's still a smell but its not like a fresh rotting smell. Though floaters are the fucking worst, that shit is rancid. Nightmare fuel incarnate.
That smell never leaves you, I sometimes wake up smelling it still. That sickly sweet scent is burned into my olfactory system.
