Western religion is about being a boot licking slave. Power is external, belonging to gods you have to appease. It's a top-down structure where a church quickly forms which makes all the rules. They literally call themselves a flock of sheep.
Eastern religion is bottom-up. The power is inside you and it's about growing and mastering yourself. Achieving enlightenment. Organized religion is unpopular and everyone sort of does their own thing.
Come to think of it this is probably the west gravitates towards fascism while the east gravitates towards communism. The west wants a king but the east wants collectivism.
