Trump is self-interested and understands how deeply imbedded Israel is in American politics, but even he took a step back from Iran when they made a show of bombing each other at the end of the Israel-Iran conflict earlier this summer. Israel failed instigate a regime change in Iran and instead united their fractured government; now, Israel has a time limit between now and a nuclear Iran assuming they don't have nukes as I type this.
Never forget that Israel is only about the size of New Jersey with a similar population. Only a fraction of people CAN go into Gaza and an even smaller fraction of those are willing. Not after fighting a multi-front war for almost two years.
