Nobody outside of weebs can even name any of Demon Slayer's characters besides maybe Nezuko due to her meme status. Dragon Ball, One Piece and Naruto pops up everywhere in pop culture and they're practically synonymous with anime, not just because of their distinctive character designs but because they were larger-than-life figures that they bordered on mythological. Dragon Ball inspired pro athletes from wrestlers, boxers and MMA fighters. Paris Saint Germain held up a massive banner for Goku and Shenron for a match. One Piece had olympic athletes doing poses straight out from the show and Luffy is the second anime character to ever be in Macy's Thanksgiving parade, Goku was the first.
Naruto also has both actors and pro athletes post Sharingan edits of themselves on their Instagram for millions to see. Yes, you read that right, the Sharingan is so iconic even actors and pro athletes make Instagram posts with millions of likes about it. Naruto is also on Fortnite, as is Dragon Ball and now One Piece is next.
That's how a character becomes "iconic", Demon Slayer has no iconic characters, because they have zero charisma. They're mainly carried by the animation and voice acting who breathed into these otherwise bland characters the same Toei Animation gave life to Saint Seiya.
I'd say as much, out every character that came out from the post-Big 3 era, the only character that will be remembered for a very long time and he's one I can actually say can comfortably sit right next to Goku, Superman and Darth Vader is... Gojo. His design is bland and he wears nothing but all-black, but he's carried solely by his charisma which makes or breaks a character into the cultural zeitgeist. Even after JJK ended half a year ago, I still see JJK brainrot across mediums. I won't assess the story of JJK as I feel like everything that could be said about it, has already been said. But Gege struck gold with that character.
