There are dozens of cases of "banning slavery" in history
But all of them are really just restrictions and limitations due to pragmatic problems. Like Japan "banning slavery" when in reality, it was just banning trade of Japs to the Portuguese while they are enslaving Koreans
Or India banning slavery under Ashoka, but caste servitude is fine

Christians are the only ones to ever ban it because "it is wrong". And it is wrong because "all are equal under the eys of God"
