Well anons; it's a bit early, but here's the prewritten answer to the riddle; as always other answers are acceptable, most espically if they're interesting. If you're still contemplating the issue, come back to the answer at a later time, or feel free to post an answer at any time.
The answer, is actually quite interesting and multilayed, and involves knowledge of chemistry, alchemy, history, money, religion, and religious history.
Firstly, is of couse, the pithy comment found in the Bible about "God/s and Mammmon", however we look for more interesting and indepth answers from those who are capable of more, though it should be noted that the Gods do indeed teach and guide at every level of those in our charge, including the illiterate and those who never had an opportunity to strive for education, and thus such pithy answers and teachings do indeed have a place.
The answer of course, starts with the riddle itself; namely, how can gold be without value and valuable at the same time; such an easy answer in todays systems where it's been reduced from "money" to "commodity", however in terms of it's classical role as a measure/preserver of value is where we find it's value to Hel/Hell; bringing us to the next part of the answer.... namely knowledge of chemistry, alchemy, and the works of the Gods and the wisdoms of Hermes.
Despite the claims of the monied classes, money and Gold are not, in and of themselves manifestations of changes in state, nor the ability to do so; such belongs to the planetary logi; wisdoms, chemistry, and alchemy to Mercury, love and beauty to Venus, determination, war, and conflict to Mars, manifestation of a Just soceity to Jupiter, etc..... in some cases, their values are said to be without measure, or priceless, most espically to the Gods, such as someone who won't take a bribe at any price, and the increase in "value" is only so much more worthless paper on the scale, to them and the eyes of the Gods.
