If that's what you're talking about then I don't see why that couldn't simply be the case. It's pretty irrelevant whether Asriel stayed in Hometown or came back in secret a week ago. And there are a litany of reasons he might want to keep it a secret, for the sake of his family and to avoid exposing himself to the Player and the rest of the Fun Gang.

If you seriously believe this shows he moved on then you do not understand Asriel's character whatsoever. In what world is Dess being completely scrubbed from Asriel's life a sign of Asriel having moved on? That's the exact opposite of what you would expect, that's someone repressing their feelings or, more likely, trying to hide something.
