You don't understand the meaning of "authority". Police, FBI, etc. don't have authority, they only have power, which they get from public support. And after BLM, COVID lockdowns, and mass civilian armament they don't have much of that either.

Authority can only be earned. Lockdown protestors have authority. Terrorists have authority.

Remember that the crowds listened to Jesus because "he spoke as one having authority, and not as the sages" (who only had power).
