Yeah ideally Ben would get a symbiote form, and have to use it once or twice, before meeting Lucy. Lucy then gets inspired after seeing it, and users her powers to emulate it.

That would both help Gwen fight, and allow Lucy to participate without over complicating the fight scenes.
