Largely the man has kept quite given his initial sperg out as far as I'm aware, but the larger issue is the established business families here, there's 8 or so lines which basically control the fishing, smelting, banking, farming, and tourist sectors and are not inclined to budge even if it means iceland slowly becomes a american outpost with european characteristics
