Thanks for sharing. Hedonic treadmill is a very real thing.
To combat this cycles personally I make time blocks and schedules with my week. Monday to Thursday is for serious mode, no music, no vidya. I set my boundaries here and I don't want to run errands at all.
Friday to Sunday is for dilly dallying and sillymaxxing, studying jumpstyle and Japanese. This is how you achieve 4 day work-week
