I once played a game called Tale of the Undercrust, which has a lot of info about different kinds of rocks and gems and how they're formed. Trouble is, it just so happens to mainly be a hentai game, and the stuff about minerals and rocks is part of the exploration, and collecting for an encyclopedia, etc., like a sidestory.
