A life is in anon. It's always been in. They're just struggling with the offline stuff and keeping better persistance. Even back at release I could find a lone guy, follow him for a while, run off and let him despawn then go back to where he SHOULD be and find him [the name would change but he'd be there reliably].
Now I find people with very random feeling loot and the encounters happen with or without me and never feel the same once. The only issue is sometimes it seems they spawn a big clump of a-life entities in one spot nearby me and they all fight and kill each other off. Feels like they should've be clumped the fuck up like that.
