Any subculture will be filled with fags because by definition subcultures go against dominant societal currents, and fags who are open about being fags have more moral strength and authenticity than average and are more likely to go against the grain in other ways (punk, goth, greaser, whatever)

Yeah yeah the base determines the superstructure and capitalism structures desire and something something commodity fetishism. Doesn’t mean you can’t discern your own values or find community or do things that feel important to you, you just gotta remember that meaning isn’t something that can be sold. I love my boots because I think they look punk, but it’s not like dropping money on a nice pair of boots is what determines my character, I’d be punk either way. A lot of people feel like larpers because they’ve been interpellated by w*stern ideologies to be good little consumers but if you do a little soul searching and become more conscious about propaganda and how it functions you’ll start to feel that the world is less fake and gay and more connected to others
