“Be careful,” Jesus said to them. “Be on your guard against the yeast of the Pharisees and Sadducees.”

They discussed this among themselves and said, “It is because we didn’t bring any bread.”

Aware of their discussion, Jesus asked, “You of little faith, why are you talking among yourselves about having no bread? Do you still not understand?

Jesus spoke all these things to the crowd in parables; he did not say anything to them without using a parable

I will open my mouth in parables,
I will utter things hidden since the creation of the world.

Whoever has will be given more, and they will have an abundance. Whoever does not have, even what they have will be taken from them.

Though seeing, they do not see;
though hearing, they do not hear or understand.

Jesus could no more openly enter into the city, but was without in desert places: and they came to him from every quarter.
