I can 'handle' Renewal just fine. It certainly held my interest longer than the original fic. But it suffers from a terminal case of wheel-spinning in the later chapters. I just read an entire 4500 word section where the characters sat around and talked about their feelings and nothing happened.

And the lore has plenty of holes in it - ironically because it's cribbing some of the dumbest parts of Fallout lore verbatim. Stuff like survivors living in shacks and scavenging food a full two centuries after the war, the nonsense about vaults being social experiments, the Enclave being cartoonishly evil for no reason, etc. The stuff the author is ripping from Howey's Silo series just makes it worse. Now EVERY stable is like Vault 101 and no one can leave, but also they're social experiments that are supposed to fail, and also they're all linked together via a secret internet network that no one noticed for 200 years (?!?).
