OK, so massive spoilers for bleach I guess
We are introduced to Aizen as a kind hearted captain who questions why they are executing Rukia since the crime didn’t fit the punishment. Then later he gets killed only for the reveal at the end of the soul society arc that he was alive along and was the reason for trying to kill Rukia, because she possessed the Hōgyoku (magical wish granting orb for lack of better explanation that Kisuke created and hid inside Rukia). The thing with Aizen is that we never got a flashback since Kubo didn’t want us to sympathize with him but his deal was Aizen was a prodigy. In the world of Bleach there are just people who are born uber strong and Aizen is one of them plus being uber smart thus he could never really be truly understood by others. Aizen wants to destroy the Soul King. Now the Soul King isn’t just some guy, he is actually a somehow still a living mutilated corpse that keeps the three worlds separate and the border of life and death. Only a handful of people know this including Aizen and Kisuke which causes beef between them since Kisuke is also very smart. Aizen wants to change the world while Kisuke wants to maintain the status quo. Though it seems what Aizen really wants is for someone to understand him since after their fight Ichigo could feel his loneliness. A lore expert can explain this better but bleach does have these volume poems that give you some insight into the characters
“We think the flower on the precipice is beautiful because our fear make our feet stop at its edge instead of stepping forward into the sky”
I suppose you could view him as a man that wanted to decide how the world should be than accept it for what it is like Kisuke.
