Yet, this sounds more like an american problem. The EU has long since banned most pesticides, growth hormones and strictly limited antibiotic use. Now, before you laugh, my shithole is a part of the west, since everything we produce and sell goes straight into the EU and I've seen Bosnian products in Cities in Germany. Truth be told, you americans have some serious problems when it comes to your way of doing capitalism. It made your country powerful, sure, but with the cost of basically having zero care about your health and the health of your communities and this shows with animal welfare, even. The EU tries to protect the animal and in turn protect it's own citizens, whilst the US is almost completely focused on industry and the immaginary line going up at all times. Not that there isn't exploitation in Europe.
