The demand for more Wing is big, and they can't ignore it. It could easily become a 3rd pillar for Gundam alongside Seed and UC.

And as of Seed Freedom, Kira isn't that much of Jesus figure. He jobbed a lot in the film and would have died in the final battle too if not for Lacus. The writers were definitely aware of the Jesus Yamato problem in GSD and they probably didn't intend for him to be that OP.
