A free UPS is always a good deal, I got one for $40 at a thrift store and battery was still good
Also, check the warranty.
APC will honor warranties with just your word of mouth if you tell them error code F06 or F09 even if your not the original buyer and send you a new UPS.
They will ask for the old one back but you didn't give them any credit card.
