There's a balance to be found. My dad was honest with me about my own flaws, and yes sometimes it was hard to hear but that didn't make it any less true and in retrospect I appreciate that. For example, when I was very young I said I wanted to be a pro baseball player and he laughed and said it's not going to happen UNLESS I start actually practicing every single day. He didn't say it was impossible, just very unlikely unless I radically changed my ways. He was absolutely correct and honest in this assessment. Most modern parents would say "yes of course you will be the best baseball player because you're my special little guy!" even though the kid is addicted to vidya and hardly goes out to practice.

Rampage has been discouraging his son from becoming a fighter for many years now, and one of the ways he does this is to publicly ridicule him because he is DELUSIONAL to think he's going to find success in that world. He grew up soft and rich, traveling between the US, England, and Japan, living nice houses eating nice food (he's vegan, don't find that in the hood lol) and probably a fully equipped private gym available at all times. The problem with that is you don't learn to fight by punching a bag all by yourself in your mansion, you learn by getting the shit kicked out of you on a regular basis. Rampage new this because he grew up hard and knows a pussy when he sees one, and he's been trying to convince his son of this for years. It may look mean but he's actually trying to help him but his son is obviously stunted mentally and emotionally. I'll venture a guess that his mom is absent or a huge whore of some variety. You need the softer energy of the mother to temper the edgy honesty of the father.
