I think scaling main series characters via heroes is silly because of what you said. Scaling Heroes OCs is fine though. They have different feats and whatever.
Part of modern battle boarding is scaling what really shouldn't be scaled. Try saying everything you said to a sonic or mario wanker and they'll cry. Everything you said applies to Marvel and DC too desu. They go from busting omni giga verses to jobbing to the joker/lex luthor/kingpin.
