With regards to that, apparently there's a term in jp forums in general about that. I can't remember the translation, but it's something like "I was the one who loved her first". Basically the one you like got taken by someone else or beat you to them first. The exact wording may not apply here, but the essence is the same: the someone you like got taken by someone else, and that hurt you even if you aren't in a relationship with them.
