You say that, but WotC have no problem printing powerful snakes every few sets, even though ophidiophobia is the second-biggest animal phobia. Nagas have been a frequently-returning creature type for many years now, at least until they got errata'd to snakes.

I genuinely believe there's some sort of bias specifically against arthropods at WotC, where they refuse to print any spiders or insects with powerful abilities outside eternal formats (i.e., commander). It's even evident with Genemorph Imago from the showcase misprint that they were almost certainly going to make it a legendary creature (probably named Kadrik) until they changed it somewhere near the end of development, hence the template didn't match the final product, leaving the only legendary Eumidian to be restricted to the commander precon. That also probably explains why they didn't include an insect lord to grant benefits to run Eumidians or any of the other insects in EoE, but they were fine putting Swarmweaver in Duskmourn, because the latter was designed with a "scary" set in mind.
