Sufis have historically met in lodges so that they could practice and study together. Their initiation rituals include a death and resurrection. This is the same ritual that Freemasons go through to gain the Master Mason degree, after which they are eligible to join the Shriners. Sufis are known for pilgrimages to the shrines of dead Sufi saints, to receive their blessings since these saints had achieved immortality and weren't bound to the cycle of death.
