That's just how MMO threads in general tend to work in [current year], unfortunately.
The vast majority of Anon who post in them are fine, even pretty cool to be around in their own ways. Yet far more often these days than not, there also typically tends to be 1-3 highly mentally ill (and usually pretty young) (and also usually pretty third-world) schizos taking residence there as well, who either obsess over being the center of attention at all times (and thus warp the thread's subject to be about them instead of the game itself), or obsess over one specific person within those threads, spending every waking hour trolling/shitposting/making fun of that person and dragging the rest of the thread down with them.
Fortunately, however...
We haven't had to deal with that type of highly annoying individual for at least a little while now. Even during /opg/'s most tumultuous of times, when the threads were nigh-on unusable due to particularly high-profile melties lasting for 300-700+ posts straight, the camaraderie and general discourse in-game held strong (which is, again, pretty common for MMO threads in general. Regardless of what the thread itself looks like, the Anon who are actually playing and socializing within the game tend to be nice - or at least interesting - to hang with). No jinxing, obviously.
