Lol, what? SpaceX has done almost nothing but waste taxpayer money. He hasn't made anything that's been any sort of net savings on rocket launches.

If we used the tax dollars he was given to pay people for doing nothing out of pocket, we'd still come out ahead monetarily due to preserving the physical resources that Musk has otherwise wasted. Insiders at NASA have resigned to the idea that China is going to beat us back because SpaceX failed to meet their mission targets. Ever since then more and more independent analyses have shown that the Superheavy rockets that SpaceX have been testing are too heavy by design to do any of the things that NASA wants it to do.

If we wind up going to the moon at all, let alone before China, it'll be on NASA's SLS with an Orion module and SpaceX will have nothing to do with it. Mark my words.
