Yeah, true. It's not good for potato hardware. Especially if you have low system RAM. 32 GB is the minimum if you want to be comfy.

It can do gaming fine. Setting up GPU passthrough is pretty much the same process on Qubes as it is on Linux. It does require extra hardware but it's worth it!
