I'll stop rambling after this, I need to sleep and I'm sorry for being obnoxious. Again, I believe the Crimson Troupe plot was intentionally left vague because they didn't know how to continue it at the time.
>What would you have preferred the story to do?
I cannot answer this without going on and on, and spoiling/discussing Act or Die (which I'm reluctant to do as it's not out on global) so instead some Playwright thoughts. If Dionysus' goal is to spread madness in the name of beauty and art and is willing to stop at nothing to achieve this, it would be nice if Playwright also sought to perfect the arts and cooperates with him out of a twisted sense of solidarity. Although he initially finds Dionysus' method's cruel, Playwright quickly comes to understand him. A "I'll help you because you help me" relationship. Dionysus is also historically rather flamboyant, so Playwright's seemingly detached attitude would make for a nice foil. It'd be nice if he viewed Phantom as the perfect muse and grew (secretly) fond of him from afar while hating Shalem for his incompetence and cowardice, an actor hardly worthy of his scripts—this would be in line with his personality thus far, taking his reaction to Mouthpiece's ad-libbing into account. I have a feeling they'll nerf Playwright's arts in the future but it'd be cool if they didn't and he intentionally holds himself back because playing God would be too cliched and ruin his stories.
