A lot of people acted like that in 2016 and then, as Ben Carson put it, the GOP's "tendency to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory" reared its ugly head, and the GOP lost catastrophically in 2018 and later 2020 in part due to apathy about the obvious rigging of the elections and in part because the GOP was busy disavowing "racists" and young White men were alienated.
