The Tychonic model could work if there was no stellar parallax. This is the reason why Tycho Brahe didn't buy the Copernican model since he couldn't observe any parallax that the heliocentric model predicts. But his observations were done with the naked eye which gave him an accuracy of around 1 arcminute and our closest star Proxima Centauri has a parallax angle of around 0.77 arcseconds or 0.0128 arcminutes.
