Just your standard beans recipe I think.
First, soaking your beans is important! It leeches the tanins out of the beans which is where the bitter flavor comes from. It also begins the germinating process which gives the beans more life. Best results I have had is from soaking for 6 to 10 hours.
Next, start the boil and season your beans. Salt, sugar (stevia is fine too), chili, rosemary, thyme, parsley, bell pepper, onion, that's what I mainly use but you should add whatever seasoning you like or have on hand. Finally, fat is important. If I am using meat it will usually be pork and I cook it first, adding onions to it later, then the rest after the onions have caramalized. If I do not have any, I add olive oil instead. Tonight I used coconut oil and it was pretty good.
