I would prefer that Musicflies (and all overworld collectibles in general) be as inoffensive and unobtrusive as possible. The process should consist of:
1. Finding the collectible
2. Quickly grabbing the collectible
3. Moving onto the next collectible in the game's painfully long list of 10 trillion collectibles.
Just have them be passive and idle, like bugs in a Disney movie that are singing out in the wild. There is no reason to have to make it such a chore just to get them and the music records they drop.

Yeah, I've used Chixia's and Havoc Rover's liberation moves, but you still very often have to wait until they come somewhat near you and are headed in your direction (which requires you to at least get an idea of their general flight route, and some of these cunts require a lot of time waiting since they have big flight routes).
