Putin is establishing a Day of Indigenous Peoples in Russia and a Day of Languages. This news is actually very important.
The so called indigenous peoples are about 20% of the population of Russia, and much more than 20% of the army of Russia.
Ukraine has been publishing anti-Russian propaganda aimed at these people in Russia, how they are disproportionately hurt by the sanctions, and disproportionatley die in the fighting.
To counter this, Putin is issuing anti-colonialist propaganda of his own, which is mostly aimed abroad, but now has to be domestically centered too. With half mouth, the imperial past of Russia is admitted and those people are called "natives" and other imperialist meme words.
Obviously this hurts the image of Indivisiable Russia, eternal Russia, united, one, single, solid Russia, that Putin has been pushing. The Big Russian nationalism, which includes Ukraine and Belarus and central Asia, probably won't survive the war + this "indigenous people" stuff.
Expect more DIVERSITY IS OUR STRENGTH signalling instead, and more moving from russian nationalism to third worldism.
