Just watched 'Suriyothai', the 5 hour Thailand cut. It was easily the best historical film I have EVER seen. Holy fuck. I hate Criterion but I immediately sent them an email begging them to get that cut remastered. It’s never been on blu-ray, completely out of print. Can't stress enough how good this film was. The sets, the costumes, the music, the culture. Massive battle scenes with 10,000 extras. 10/10.

Some really truly spectacular sets in this film. Literally no CGI, just some basic composite shots. It MUST be restored. The battle scenes and various other shots with 5,000+ extras were incredible.
Francis Ford Coppola apparently re-edited and trimmed the film down 2 hours. Avoid that cut like the plague.
