I don't think there's a single shipper alive who feels like they were well serviced by canon. Either the ship was teased and nothing more, or made canon and then squandered.

Remember when people lost their shit at Rosemary becoming canon, and then we literally never got to see a single scene of Rose and Kanaya actually being romantic with each other? The next scene we get after their kiss is Rose being a drunk hornses ass and Kanaya kicking Can Town in anger. Remember when Davesprite/Jade was a thing that started and ended completely off-screen? Remember when dead John and dead Vriska briefly dated in a dream-bubble completely off-screen? Remember when Davekat was made ambiguously canon completely off-screen? Remember when Dirk/Jake was a thing and any sort of romantic yaois between them happened completely off-screen?

Hussie just doesn't care about romance, period. He in fact seems to deeply loathe the very notion of it. All that romance means to him is some vague coupling of characters to happen completely outside of the story itself. If it isn't grist for his perpetually irony-poisoned snark-train, he doesn't care about it.

We never even got a scene where the 4 beta kids all met up, not once. Not ever. Not even a platonic friendly group hug was given to us. That would have been too consolating, too much payoff for years and tens of thousands of words of set-up.
