>we are literally in the golden age of PC gaming because of steam
The golden age of PC gaming ended roughly a decade ago, when performance stopped realistically coming to meet hardware. This was only coincidentally when Valve stopped actually supporting Steam correctly, and started making dumb-as-shit decisions or letting all of the features rot in disrepair.

People like to argue that Steam has never been better than ever, yet 9 times out of 10, the faggot arguing over it has uploaded something like pic related and then says it doesn't matter that the stream service is the worst functioning service that exists, the in-store browser doesn't even work with some of it's own features (like streaming) so you have to use an external browser anyway, or that its 2025 and there still isn't a filter for the Steam workshop for languages to keep me from having to look at the same mod 19 times but re-re-retranslated into Budanese. God forbid they handle their own support instead of outsourcing it to India.
