I'm indifferent / don't have a problem with them. Which is a lot more positive than most people. I like all cultures/peoples/languages and it's only natural that small populations who are more vulnerable should get more support.

Well the Swedish crown promoted Finnish settlement further north by giving tax breaks to settlers. So the Saami who were hunter-gatherers / pastorial (reindeer) were driven further north or assimilated when Finns came to cultivate the land. The crown wanted future tax-payers and also strengthen the claim against Novgorod/russia, as the border was kind of fuzzy at the time. So in this way Finns "colonized" "Saami land" and the Swedes didn't "Colonize" "Finnish land" in the same way. In fact the Swedish crown also settled some "wild" parts of Sweden proper with Finns. Finns used slash-and-burn which was suitable for settling lands. The Swedes didn't know this technique.
Anyway the Saami claim that Finns colonized them is kind of bullshit imo. I have no problem with them getting gibs but the colonized claim just sounds like aping identity politics from the USA, like the entire "europes only natives" claim. They've managed to get the status from the UN or whatever but it's not really comparable to natives in america etc. it's not the same.

Why? it's the most effective agriculture method
bad soil and harsh weather only gives you the option to be effective. Slash-and-burn yields like 1000% compared to normal farming. Problem is you have to keep moving so you can't have large settled populations. We had plenty of room.
