I hate the secularization of vampires so I wanted to make my twist on vampires so I modified VTM to fit a different lore.
Only Christians or people aligned with Christianity can become vampires. If a non-Christian especially an atheist gets embraced, they become a mindless vampire beast. Crosses work on amplifying Christian guilt. This doesn't work if the user of the cross isn't Christian with faith. The reasoning is the curse is meant to corrupt Christians and lure people away from God. This also leads to people blaming Christianity for the vampires.
