trying to present CCS or Sailor Moon as "mature shows for mature viewers such as myself" feels so absurd to me. Like I'm literally watching CCS at the moment and the latest episode I've seen is about them having to catch a loose card that's going around making cakes taste too sweet. You can point to the more dramatic or plot-heavy episodes in these shows and say they're more mature than they're given credit for, and I wouldn't even argue with you on that, but trying to act like that only applies to older series and not Precure is such a blatant false narrative. Even ignoring the literal most recent two parter, just go back a year to Wonderful and look at episodes like the one about when Mayu first found Yuki abandoned in the snow, or when the old lady's dog dies and Iroha has to come to terms with the fact that she'll outlive Komugi.
