how does powerlevels work in Touhou??? almost every single one of these characters can blow up and fuck the world, the universe, the existence itself in so many ways - but they don't. worse, they get defeat easily

what stops any of the character to actually .I. the rules and just rewrite history, cheat fate/destiny/luck, invoke instant death, stop time and knife you in thousand of ways, etc?

and no. there are multiple characters who canonically don't follow the rules - yet everybody is alive for some reason. characters who could bitchslap OP Reimu, don't give a shit about the rules, but nobody died and nothing happened

hell the 90s touhou didn't even have a spellcard rules system to being with
if spellcards nerf everybody, then what determinates their actual strenght? if "it's fair for everyone" then why can't a fairy defeat Reimu? isn't everybody equal according to the spellcard rules?? if nobody is bloodlusted, if a fairy can gets bitchslapped in all games but can defeat OP Marisa in another, then what the fuck is going???

What is the appeal? Do people really like bullet hells or are people just fans of the characters?
