Listen I'll give you something, I think women should be more realistic about what's being exchanged between men and women. I never agree when I see women bashing men for dating younger (as long at it's over 21). It's shallow but if you're an unmarried dude in your 40s and want kids then it's only fair that you would be interested in partners with bigger fertile windows than your age group. And so men also have to be realistic about the fact that a serious relationship for a woman means dependence. Getting pregnant is basically being disabled for a year. It's not just getting fat; it is difficult on all systems of the body, you can even lose your teeth. Childbirth can and often does make you incontinent. Then after your body is permanently changed from having them you will have most of the burden of child rearing. Many women simply disappear into making a home, any life dreams get put off or never pursued at all. You have to make this worth it for her in that she will at least be comfortable and not have to worry.

For men a serious relationship is gaining a therapist and children. For women it is giving up independence to fulfill what society deems your biological destiny/main purpose and becoming dependent on a man. Yes women care about money, they should. The men with the most money even offer freedom from the oppression of motherhood since you can hire help.

Despite that hook up culture isn't about serious relationships, this is still hard-wired into men and women and informs how they interact.
